Heavy Diesel Locomotive Mechanic

Trillium Railway Co. Ltd. is accepting applications from qualified applicants for the position of Heavy Diesel Mechanic for both portions of the Railway that includes Port Colborne Harbour Railway and St. Thomas and Eastern Railway.

Job Purpose:
Maintains a small fleet of diesel locomotives and other equipment by completing inspections and performing preventative maintenance.

Duties:

• Perform maintenance of diesel locomotives and other railway equipment.
• Keep all required documentation up to date.
• Interact with railway regulators.
• Supervise, delegate work to and appraise other maintenance employees.
• Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Environment:

• Hours of work include on call and nights and weekends as required and directed.
• Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Experienced in diesel locomotive operation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with ALCO/MLW locomotives an asset.
• Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
• Must be familiar with and have a general knowledge and use of computers.
